Harry's Army Navy, New Jersey's most unusual outdoor store, had its beginnings in 1949 when Harry Mehr, having just returned home from World War II, began selling military surplus clothing and assorted items from his truck and at stands at various New Jersey flea markets. Soon he expanded on his military surplus selection to include hunting, fishing, camping and archery gear and in 1964 opened Harry's Army Navy on Route 130 in Robbinsville, New Jersey.

The business continued to grow and in 1971 Harry added 7,000 square feet to the location to accommodate the ever-expanding selection of inventory. This also marked the time when Harry's only son Rick -- fresh from college and full of energy and ideas -- joined the business. Rick further expanded the selection of hunting and fishing gear and also added canoes, kayaks, work boots and casual apparel for men, women and kids. By the mid 1970's Harry’s Army Navy was firmly positioned as New Jersey’s #1 Outdoor Store. In the mid 1990's, with Rick in control of the day-to-day operations, Harry’s continued to grow by leaps and bounds. In 1994 another 5000 square foot addition was constructed to accommodate the mail order and internet business. As the business continued to progress in the new millennium, Rick Mehr envisioned a new Harry’s Army Navy as the centerpiece of a destination retail complex. In 2009, the new Harry's moved about 50 yards back from its original location to be at the heart of the newly constructed Deer Path Pavillion.

With the passing of Harry Mehr in 2006 we lost our founder and inspiration but the legacy lives on and with over 60 years in the military surplus business, Harry’s continues to offer top quality products and service. Harry’s Army Navy maintains a reputation for exceptional service and product knowledge. It is our goal to continually improve in all facets to better serve the needs of outdoor sports enthusiasts everywhere.
