February Shower Sessions

A well-groomed monthly playlist to start your morning right. February’s theme: Mission Oriented.

We’re big advocates of long, hot showers. A good steam will soothe your muscles, clear your head and soften your stubble before that all-important shave. A great soundtrack will make the whole process a faster and more enjoyable experience.

Good morning.Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get up, get dressed, get out the door, get through the day and get along with the greater world around you. And we have just the playlist to jumpstart all of those things. Songs that will prepare you for battles, big and small. This month’s Shower Sessions is all about making you “Mission Oriented.”

Don’t worry, we’re not going to start with the theme song from “Mission: Impossible.” Because nothing is impossible today. Not when you start the morning off on the right foot, with positivity on your mind and a “Mission Bell” ringing in your heart. Syrupy? Sure. It’s a song about love that’s high and deep and strong and wide. Something to keep in mind for the day ahead. Remember the last part of your “Mission.” To get along with the world around you.

That doesn’t mean the world is always right. Sometimes you have to fight to make it right. And for that you’ll need a proper fight song. Mission to Burma’s “Academy FIght Song” should fit the bill nicely. Ponder the wisdom in Of Montreal’s “Belle Glade Missionaries”: “Of all the evil in the universe there are no victims, only participants.” Choose your side and choose wisely. Keep your eyes on the prize and “Reboot The Mission” Lose your sight, but don’t lose your vision.

Raise your voice to sing a “Song with a Mission,” and be ready to receive any important “Transmission,” on your mission and any applicable “Sub-Mission,” because you are, yes, a “Man on a Mission.”

How you choose to get along is up to you. Potential starting points include the fact that there are those of “Equal Mind” feeling the effects of a chasmic “Pay Gap.” There are those for whom “Equal Rights” feel less than equal. IF you “Know Your Rights,” you should be prepared to “Stand Together” with them, too.

It’s not an impossible mission. You just have to accept it.
